This track was created from a skipping CD, jittering it's way through the first thirty seconds or so of a recording by a band called "Monkey Trial." The original audio is basically background sounds from the studio before the musicians actually begin to play the song.
By judiciously replicating and looping the recording skipping output of the CD player, and then processing the living daylights out of it, I was able to turn the quiet atmosphere - the air - and the small noises of people settling in at their instruments into a full, rich soundscape.
Since I'd sourced the audio from a band called "Monkey Trial" - itself a reference to the famous Scopes Monkey Trial - I named this track Snopes.
